Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us here if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our Lady of Light Schoolhouse combines individualized, mastery-based learning with a uniquely small cohort model. With a maximum of just 8 students per day, every child is truly known and taught at their level.

Students begin together at ages 5–7 and continue through 8th grade, building lasting friendships and a strong sense of community. Flexible enrollment options, direct teacher-led instruction, Montessori-inspired materials, and a faith-centered environment create a learning experience that is both highly personalized and academically strong.

Please view the video on our homepage of "A Day at Our Lady of Light Schoolhouse".

Our day follows a thoughtful rhythm, beginning with guided morning work and individualized instruction, followed by prayer, outdoor time, shared learning, and enrichment. Each part of the day is intentionally designed to support both academic growth and meaningful independence.

With a maximum of just 8 students per day, each child receives individualized, mastery-based instruction guided by a clear scope and sequence in every subject.

During our morning work period, students engage in carefully selected Montessori-inspired learning materials and hands-on activities at their individual level while I meet with students one-on-one or in small groups for direct instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Because students are taught where they are—not simply according to their age or grade level—each child can move forward with confidence, whether they are building foundational skills or ready for more advanced work.

We are currently enrolling students ages 5–7 for our founding cohort. This single cohort will continue together through the grade levels, up until 8th grade, in the years ahead.

Our four-day academic week is intentionally designed to support deep, personalized, and focused learning.

With a highly individualized approach, students receive a significant amount of one-on-one and small group instructional time, allowing lessons to be tailored to each child’s level and needs.

This structure also allows Mrs. Smith to thoughtfully plan for each student—designing high-quality, personalized lessons and carefully curated Montessori-inspired work trays that reflect the specific skills, concepts, and growth areas being developed.

The result is a learning experience that is both highly intentional and deeply responsive, while also providing families with a balanced weekly rhythm for enrichment, family time, and flexibility.

Yes. Our Lady of Light Schoolhouse is a structured private school program with a four-day academic week. Families may choose full-time enrollment or flexible part-time options ranging from one to three days per week, depending on their needs.

Whether you are seeking a full-time private school experience, homeschool enrichment, or a gradual transition into a classroom setting, students become part of our small learning community and benefit from individualized instruction, meaningful relationships, and a faith-centered environment.

No. Our Lady of Light Schoolhouse is a certified private school, not a homeschool co-op.

That said, our flexible enrollment options may be a good fit for homeschooling families looking for individualized instruction, enrichment, and community within a structured educational program led by a certified teacher.

Our program combines research-based curriculum with Montessori-inspired learning materials and hands-on experiences. Core instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics is delivered through individualized, teacher-led lessons, while science, history, religion, and enrichment subjects are taught through a combination of direct instruction, projects, literature, and hands-on learning.  Our program blends research-based curriculum with Montessori-inspired, hands-on materials. Core instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics is teacher-led and tailored to each student’s level, with enrichment in science, history, and religion. Please reach out to Mrs. Smith for specific curriculum information.

Faith is thoughtfully woven throughout the day through morning and afternoon prayer, grace before lunch, and integrated learning.

Through Bible stories, songs, projects, and hands-on activities, students engage with their faith in a meaningful and tangible way—bringing these lessons to life while nurturing both the mind and the spirit.

We maintain a maximum of just 8 students per day. This small learning environment allows for meaningful relationships, individualized instruction, and a strong sense of community.

Families begin by scheduling a tour. After submitting an application, students participate in a brief entrance assessment and family interview. Upon acceptance, enrollment is secured with registration and tuition deposit.

Our Lady of Light Schoolhouse offers flexible enrollment options ranging from one to four days per week.

Annual tuition currently ranges from $3,000 for one day per week to $11,250 for our full four-day program.

We encourage interested families to contact Mrs. Smith or schedule a tour to discuss availability and determine which enrollment option is the best fit for their child and family.
